For the August long weekend I packed my bags and set off with a few friends on winding roads deep into the picturesque Okanagan in southern BC. Between the time spent at the lake, the pool and just bumming around I managed to snap a few landscape and architecture shots. The first stop was Spotted Lake, where during the summer the water evaporates and leaves mineral deposits exposed. The white deposits and spots make for a supernatural looking landscape.
Next up was the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre designed by Dialog. We were only able to go after it closed, but even without stepping inside, this cultural centre is a marvel to watch at sunset. The design is modern yet blends perfectly with the surrounding environment.
The day we were heading back to Calgary we stopped by the Lunessence Winery in Penticton. The winery has an amazing view of the vineyards below and the lake in the valley, not a bad way to end the trip!
